Partners for Women and Justice

Partners is a nonprofit organisation based in New Jersey, USA, that provides free legal services to low-income survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Through their work, they empower their clients to build safe and secure futures for themselves and their children by providing equal access to justice.

It’s a truly inspiring team of professionals who combine an unparalleled compassion for their clients with legal expertise in domestic violence and family law. Partners was in need of a brand that reflects their strengths and the value they bring to the people they work with. A challenge we took on as part of our pro bono community project in 2020 and 2021.

We started our process by speaking with stakeholders from across the organisation, including the survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, volunteer attorneys, client advocates, fundraising specialists and the trustees.

The invaluable insight gleaned from this research laid the foundation for their new brand, starting with a shortening of their name to ‘Partners’ as the organisation now offers legal services to all genders. We also developed a brand tagline (transforming lives through justice) and positioning that would work in both English and Spanish, plus strategic messaging – emerge safer, emerge braver, emerge stronger – all crafted to give the survivors of domestic violence hope that there is a brighter future ahead.

The visual aspect of the brand was brought to life with a new, confident and iconic logo. The strong curve of the P reflects partnership, perspective and protection, and the organisation’s ability to turn people’s lives around: from trauma to transformation, emerging stronger and safer.

This confident, inspiring and progressive identity reflects the fantastic legal support the organisation provides and the amazing advocates who work with the survivors of domestic violence. The brand is also perfectly positioned to attract new volunteer pro-bono lawyers who will gain an unparalleled experience by obtaining invaluable in-court legal experience.

We are very proud of our association with Partners and continue to support them in their mission to build safe and secure futures for some of society’s most vulnerable people.

Spitalfields City Farm

At Living our brand purpose is to create difference. Difference for our clients through our creativity. Difference for our colleagues through training and development. Difference for our local communities by giving our time to help great causes.

Since 2018 one of our pro bono community projects has been to support Spitalfields City Farm, a fantastic educational oasis in heart of London.

Over the years the farm has overcome a multitude of obstacles but raising awareness and acquiring regular funding has remained a constant concern. We approached them to see what we could do to help to create a distinct and powerful brand that captures the ever-changing local community’s attention and inspires a new generation of visitors to enjoy this local gem and all it has to offer.

With hundreds of hours put in over each year, we have now created everything from their visual brand (with a few well known City icons hidden in the logo), through to posters, social media assets, merchandise, a short film and their website. We even hand made 28 signs and installed them around the farm, and continue to support them with brand and marketing initiatives.

What do we get out of this? Well, a massive amount of satisfaction to know that we are really creating difference in a very tangible way – helping the farm look more credible, authentic and professional in every way. It's also brought our team together and we've had a lot of fun along the way.

EY Foundation

The EY Foundation gives young people a great start to their working lives and strives to give young people the skills, experiences and support to get the jobs they really want, and connect employers to talented young people across the UK. The EY Foundation also helps social enterprises scale up sustainably, creating more opportunities for young people.

At Living we have been working with the EY Foundation since 2018, giving up our time to volunteer at a range of events and activities including being on the panel of a 'Dragons' Den' where we were expertly presented with inspiring ideas from teams of enthusiastic young people.

We feel that this support really helps to create difference to the lives of young people in the UK and volunteering has been a great way to develop our skills, build our networks, enjoy new experiences and have a positive impact on society.

Christ Church School

Christ Church School is a notable pillar-stone of the Shoreditch area that has served the local community for over 300 years. With nearly 200 students enrolled and a busy pre-school nursery, Christ Church School is an important asset for families and young people in the East London area.

After two years of continued improvement in its administration, the time had arrived for Christ Church Primary to reinvent its brand image. Our challenge was to help attract broader pupil demographic from the local community to the school and boost its desire to be perceived as a dynamic, progressive and family orientated school that values the individuality of its pupils.

This project was undertaken on a pro bono basis as part of our ongoing sustainability program, where we actively support local schools in London.

To help raise the profile of the school, we designed a visual identity for the primary school, which has been brought to life in a new school uniform, prospectus design, signage, website and a 40-metre long mural in the school’s playground area painted by our team.

With its exciting brand image now in place, Christ Church Primary now stands proud as a progressive centre of education in the community. Offering children a richer learning experience in a supportive and inspiring environment. Please see our case study for more information on this project.

Inspiring young people

Whether it’s helping to inspire local schoolchildren or young apprentices, rebranding a local school, encouraging a team of Mo Bro’s or raising money for charity, our team are busy in more ways than one. And with an environment that’s great for work, rest and play – an open plan studio, social breakout areas, social evenings – we help our team make the most of life at Living.

Volunteering to inspire school children in the real world
We’ve teamed up with Inspire!, an independent charity that links businesses and their employees with schools to inspire, support and open doors for young people. By bringing a diverse range of employee volunteers into the learning environment, they provide young people with employability skills, prepare them for the world of work and give them access to a world of choices and opportunities that may otherwise have remained out of reach.

"I am writing to say a massive thank you for your support over the past academic year! We couldn’t continue to do the work that we do without the support of your organisation and the many volunteers that you send our way!" Jessica Meese, Inspire

We support this work in a variety of ways; from employees volunteering during working hours, work placements, school visits to the workplace and much more.
